The CARL Award for Distinguished Service to Research Librarianship is awarded annually to an individual at a CARL member institution who has made a substantial local, national or international contribution to research librarianship. The person may have planned and implemented an exemplary library program, actively promoted research libraries and/or librarianship or otherwise served the profession with marked distinction.
